A subject access request is the process to get a copy of your police record.
Your police record is information the police have about you. This information includes police intelligence, arrests and criminal allegations where the police take no further action (NFA).
You can make a subject access request to the ACRO Criminal Records Office (ACRO) free of charge. A subject access request from ACRO will search records from police forces in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Jersey and the Isle of Man and the British Transport Police. You can also request information from your local police force.
The ACRO website also provides a list of all police forces from which you can make a subject access request, application forms for Police Certificates and the application process for deletion of records from National Police Systems.
