A curfew means a person must be at an address between certain times. This can be a bail condition, a sentence or part of another order such as a Criminal Behaviour Order.
Some curfews will be electronically monitored (electronic tag), some will allow the police to check at the address.
If a curfew with a tag is part of a bail condition, it may be a reason to give a shorter sentence. A child on bail with a curfew and tag for 9 hours or more should have any custodial sentence reduced by half a day for every day on curfew.1
