Explaining Law & Process to Children: A YJLC Workshop for Lawyers

Join us for an evening to learn about how to better represent children in court and to improve your case outcomes

27 Apr 2023 17:30

As lawyers we spend many years training to know and understand the law. What there is less focus on is how to work with clients, particularly child clients.

This evening workshop will teach you how to utilize a template developed by the Child Law Network which includes all the steps that need to be covered when explaining a legal case to a child client. Hone these skills and come away with a complete template to help you in your future work.

Although it is designed with a child client in mind it is also an extremely useful tool for explaining a case to any lay client.

Explaining your area of law, is your expertise. Our tools helps you develop a methodical way to explain the process, timeframes, actors and possible outcomes in a way that is understandable to a non-lawyer. It helps manage expectations, increases understanding and enables fuller participation.
