Judicial College guidance on reporting restrictions under revision

The Judicial College has recently issued a Supplementary Note to Reporting Restrictions in the Criminal Courts April 2015: Children and Young People, 30 July 2015.

This supplementary note is a holding position while the guidance is revised to explain more fully the particular considerations that are relevant to reporting restrictions in the criminal courts relating to children and young people.

The latest guidance, which is currently being revised, is here. It has been updated to include the recent legislative changes relating to discretionary reporting restrictions and lifelong anonymity for witnesses and victims who are under 18 at the time of the case. The legislative changes came into force on 13 April 2015, see our legal update here.
