Further increases to the Victim Surcharge

The Victim Surcharge has been increased for offences committed on or after 16 June 2022.

The information below relates to the applicable Victim Surcharge for a defendant who was under 18 at the time of the offence(s).

All offences committed on or after 16 June 2022

  • Conditional Discharge: £20
  • A fine, a Youth Rehabilitation Order or a Referral Order: £26
  • A custodial sentence (All lengths)*: £41

One or more offence(s) committed before 16 June 2022

  • Conditional Discharge: £17
  • A fine, a Youth Rehabilitation Order or a Referral Order: £22
  • A custodial sentence (All lengths)*: £34

One or more offence(s) committed before 14 April 2020

  • Conditional Discharge: £16
  • A fine, a Youth Rehabilitation Order or a Referral Order: £21
  • A custodial sentence (All lengths)*: £32

One or more offence(s) committed before 28 June 2019

  • Conditional Discharge: £15
  • A fine, a Youth Rehabilitation Order or a Referral Order: £20
  • A custodial sentence (All lengths)*: £30

One or more offence(s) committed before 8 April 2016

  • Conditional Discharge: £10
  • A fine, a Youth Rehabilitation Order or a Referral Order: £15
  • A custodial sentence (All lengths)*: £20

*When sentencing in magistrates’ courts to immediate custody for a single offence committed before 1 September 2014 or more than one offence at least one of which was committed before 1 September 2014, no surcharge is payable.
