Custodial sentences that can only be passed by the Crown Court on an defendant who aged 10 to 17.
Section 911 allows the Crown Court to sentence children (under 18 year olds) charged with grave crimes to custody (a prison sentence). It only applies for grave crimes, these are certain offences listed in section 91, and where neither a YRO or a Detention and Training Order (DTO) is suitable. It is normally used to pass a sentence longer than the maximum two years available under a Detention and Training Order (DTO).
