A court order that restricts the media (press) from reporting a particular part of a criminal case.
In a criminal case, if a child is a witness, victim or defendant (or are concerned in some way e.g. the child or sibling of a defendant) then reporting restrictions can stop the child’s name, address, photograph and other information that might identify them (such as their school or place of work) from being revealed in the newspapers, on television or on the internet.
The media can be punished if they breach a reporting restriction.
