An Attorney General Reference (AG Ref) is an appeal by the prosecution from the Crown Court to the Court of Appeal when they believe a sentence does not reflect the seriousness of the crime or on a point of law. It could end up with an increased sentence. The prosecution cannot appeal sentences from the youth court.
