Outcome code 22 was introduced in April 2019 in response to recommendations in the Lammy Report about using deferred prosecution.
Outcome 22 is a police outcome code which can be used when the police have decide to defer prosecution until the accused has been given the opportunity to engage with a intervention activity. The outcome will be recorded on the Police national Computer as follows:
‘diversionary, educational or intervention activity, resulting from the crime report, has been undertaken and it is not in the public interest to take any further action’.
Outcome 22 could be an excellent result for many children’s cases, particularly if the police use it in relation to serious offences.
