Is a prison sentence but instead of going to prison, a person can remain in the community but they will have to comply with certain strict conditions. If they breach the requirements then they can be sent to prison for the period of time that they were given in their original sentence.
Suspended sentences are only given to adults. Children (aged 10-17) cannot receive suspended sentences.
