Section 91 sentences

Custodial sentences that can only be passed by the Crown Court on an offender who is under 18. 

Section 911 allows the Crown Court to sentence children (under 18 year olds) charged with grave crimes to custody (a prison sentence). It only applies for grave crimes and certain offences listed in section 91. It is normally used to pass a sentence longer than the maximum two years available under a Detention and Training Order (DTO).
